Over the weekend I went to Maine to swim in a 5 session open swim meet at Bowdoin College. Here I swam 7 events as well as 3 relays. Overall it was a very long weekend, and my whole team is now very tired. In the first session on Friday night I swam the 500 free and the 800 free relay. My seed time going into the 500 was a 5:59.83 but during the event I dropped 9.02 seconds getting a time of 5:50.81. In the relay my team got a time of 8:57.21. In my team was Jaylan, Julia, Magan, and me. My leg of the relay was a 2:11.54 which is .70 seconds faster than my best 200 free time. At the Saturday morning session I swam the 200 free, the 100 back, and the 50 free. In the 200 free I dropped 2.03 seconds from my time in the relay the night before getting me a time of 2:09.51. In the 100 back I got a time of 1:08.78 dropping 1.72 seconds from my previous best of 1:10.50. In the 50 free, which is my favorite event as well as the hardest to drop time in, I beat my previous best time of 27.25 by .70 getting me a time of 26.55, securing me 41st place out of 183 people between the ages of 13 and 18. The next session on Saturday Night I swam the 400 Medley relay. I swam the 100 back and got a time of 1:09.28 which was not as fast as I swam that morning but still faster than my best time before this swim meet. In the Sunday morning session I swam the 100 free, the 100 breast, and the 200 IM. In the 100 free, I beat my previous best time of 1:00.82 by 3.03 seconds, finally breaking 1:00, with a time of 57.79. In the 100 breast I got a time of 1:18.26 which was a 3.17 second drop from my previous best time of 1:21.43. In the 200 IM I beat my previous best time of 2:34.34 by 8.79 seconds with a time of 2:25.55. IN the last session, the Sunday night session, I swam the 400 Free relay. My team got a time of 3:54.62. I got a split of 57.87, which was not as good as that morning but after a long weekend with a lot of swims I did pretty well. Overall my team placed 5th with 1692 points out of 23 teams. The boys placed 2nd overall receiving a trophy for their achievement. Many people on out team did very well. Meghan placed 8th overall in the 100 free with a time of 55.07 seconds which was .24 seconds slower than her 54.83 during prelims. Also, the New Wave girls A relay for the 400 free relay placed 11th qualifying for sectionals in Buffalo this spring with a time of 3:49.78. The team did a fabulous job at Bowdoin this weekend and we all had a lot of fun. We can't wait to go back next year when we will be faster and place even higher in all of our events.
Set you goals high, but keep going until you shoot well past what was expected
